Japan, Bahrain establish trade, investment working group

Japan and Bahrain on Wednesday exchanged documents regarding the establishment of a trade and investment bilateral working group between the two countries, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said.

The documents, based on the policy discussions between their foreign ministries, were exchanged in the presence of Kansuke Nagaoka, Director-General of the ministry’s Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau, and Bahraini Industry and Commerce Minister Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, who is visiting Japan, the ministry said in a statement.

“The establishment of the Japan-Bahrain Trade and Investment Working Group demonstrates the commitment of Japan and Bahrain to strengthen bilateral economic relations and deepen their longstanding partnership, and is expected to provide an opportunity for both countries to take advantage of the abundant economic opportunities, expand trade and investment ties, and promote economic growth,” the statement said.

Last June, Japan and Bahrain signed a bilateral investment agreement in order to help bolster economic ties between the two countries.
