Tripoli:The Kataeb's Political Bureau, led by party chief Samy Gemayel, convened for its weekly meeting to address current issues and released a statement emphasizing the need to cease delays concerning weapons not under state control.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, the Political Bureau argued that these weapons have caused destruction in Lebanon, facilitated ongoing Israeli occupation, and given Israel reasons to maintain its presence. The Bureau called on the government to end dual decision-making, enforce its decisions promptly, and ensure all weapons and security decisions fall under state control. It also emphasized empowering the Lebanese army and security forces to assert authority nationwide.

The Bureau rejected the idea of making Lebanese citizens bear the crisis's cost, criticizing the state's reliance on citizens' finances while a parallel economy harms national interests through smuggling and tax evasion. It linked Lebanon's economic woes to its security and political conditions, highlighting that Hezbollah's weapons have led to wars, instability, and hindered economic opportunities.

Additionally, the Bureau warned against exploiting social movements to weaken governmental efforts to bolster state sovereignty or distract from the crisis's root causes. It maintained that a state cannot function with uncontrolled weapons, nor can an economy thrive alongside an unlawful parallel economy.

The Bureau reiterated its support for the government's discussions with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, urging for a swift agreement with the IMF and the implementation of necessary reforms. It stressed the urgency of passing remaining reform legislation to secure Arab and international support, emphasizing that further delays would harm the economy, depositors' rights, and the country's future.
