LIONS CLUB CANCELS BEIRUT PORT CELEBRATION UPON REQUEST OF FAMILIES OF BLAST VICTIMS

The International Association Of Lion’s Club District 351, Lebanon, has cancelled its previously planned celebration at Beirut Port upon the request of the families of the port blast victims, who also requested an apology from the club for having planned an honorary celebration on the very same premises which witnessed the martyrdom of their loved ones.

 

The families of Beirut Port blast victims had earlier issued a strong worded statement in which they threatened to storm the event and crash the celebration equipments had the Lions Club decided to proceed and hold the event at the port premises.

 

Consequently, the Lions Club issued a statement in which it declared its decision to cancel the event despite having been wronged and misjudged.

 

“We offer our deep apologies, and our understanding to everyone who felt that holding this meeting deeply hurt and affected his/her feelings. Our statement highlights the truth of our intention choosing this place for our event,” an apology by the Lions Club read.
