MAWLAWI MEETS AOUN, SAYS WILL HAND MEGA CENTER STUDY TO CABINET TOMORROW

President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, on Thursday met Interior Minister, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, and deliberated with him the latest internal developments, in addition to the details of the work of the security forces in terms of combating terrorism and drugs and liberating the kidnapped.

The preparations made by the ministry to complete the parliamentary elections were also tackled.

After the meeting, Minister Mawlawi made the following statement:

“I had honored to meet the President, today, at the Presidential Palace. I briefed President Aoun on the major security operation that led to the detection and arrest of 3 planned terrorist bombings.

His Excellency the President was briefed on the details of this qualitative operation carried out by the Internal Security Forces and the Information Branch, as well as the details of the work of the Internal Security Forces, and the Information Branch in all files related to combating terrorism, terrorist organizations, combating drugs and liberating the kidnapped.

Moreover, we discussed the details of all the operations carried out by the security forces, which I follow personally. In this context, His Excellency the President congratulated the Internal Security Forces on this great achievement and praised the efforts made by their members in all matters of security.

We also addressed the latest preparations that we are making to complete the electoral process accurately, smoothly and transparently so that all citizens can reach the polling stations, whether at home or abroad. I briefed the President of what was achieved yesterday with regard to facilitating the voting of the Lebanese outside Lebanon, and the President was satisfied with all the preparations made by our ministry, which I followed up to achieve this achievement successfully.

Question: When will the Megacentre study be presented to the Council of Ministers?

Answer: “We will discuss this issue in tomorrow’s session”.

Question: Can there be a “megacenter” without a magnetic card?

Answer: “This topic has already been stated in my opinion more than once. I will place it with the Council of Ministers at its request, and it will decide what is needed”.

Question: Will the Megacentre be on the cabinet table tomorrow?

Answer: “No, tomorrow I will hand over the study to the presidency of the government”.
