Menassa, Bulgarian Officials Discuss Defense Cooperation and UNIFIL Mandate Renewal

Menassa: Defense Minister Michel Menassa on Thursday continued his official visit to Bulgaria, meeting Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov to discuss strengthening bilateral defense cooperation and enhancing coordination mechanisms between the two countries.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Menassa highlighted the longstanding Lebanese-Bulgarian relationship spanning more than six decades, stressing Lebanon's commitment to expanding partnerships with friendly nations in support of regional stability and shared interests.

Talks also focused on the renewal of the mandate of United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) beyond its current term ending in late 2026. Menassa emphasized the importance of securing broad European backing for the renewal process.

Radev reportedly expressed readiness to raise the issue during the European leaders' summit scheduled to take place in Montenegro on Friday.
