MIKATI DISCUSSES TEACHERS’ DEMANDS WITH EDUCATION MINISTER, CHAIRS MEETING OVER 2023 STATE BUDGET

Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, held a meeting at the Grand Serail on Tuesday devoted to discussing the demands of teachers, in the presence of Caretaker Education Minister Abbas Halabi, Caretaker Finance Minister Youssof Khalil, Director General of the Finance Ministry George Maarrawi, Director General of the Education Ministry Imad Achkar, and Mikati’s advisor Nicolas Nahhas.

“We discussed the demands of the Ministry of Education and the required credit lines, in addition to the means of meeting the demands of teachers in order to end their strike and return to the classrooms to save the academic year,” Halabi told reporters.

In another development, Mikati chaired a periodic meeting dedicated to tackling the 2023 state budget, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Saadeh Chami, Caretaker Finance Minister Youssof Khalil, Director General of the Finance Ministry George Maarrawi, Head of the Revenues Department at the Finance Ministry Louay Chehade, and Mikati’s advisors Nicolas Nahhas and Samir Daher.
