MILITARY RETIREES PREPARE FOR OPEN SIT-INS, MOVEMENTS

Secretary of the “National Authority for Armed Forces Retirees”, Imad Awada, revealed in a statement today that “military retirees are preparing for wide movements in all Lebanese regions, including setting-up tents and organizing sit-ins, in coordination with the General Labor Union, trade and professional unions and public sector retirees.

Awada called on the Ministry of Finance employees to cancel their strike & threats not to complete the processing of employees, military personnel and retirees’ salaries, “since this may lead to a very serious and unfavorable outcome.”

He added: “Any delay may force the military retirees to stay overnight and enter the Ministry of Finance and Exchange building, as of the beginning of upcoming July,” urging the Finance Ministry staff to finalize the processing of employees’ wages and then join in the wide demands for salary increases of all public sector employees and retirees.
