MINISTER OF EDUCATION: LAW 515 DOES NOT ALLOW ANY INCREASE IN SCHOOL FEES

Minister of Education and Higher Education Abbas Al-Halabi indicated that the law in force to-date regarding school budgets is Law No. 515, issued in 1996, which does not allow any increase in fees as long as no new burdens are imposed by new regulations and laws.

Al-Halabi stressed that the payment of school fees should be in Lebanese pounds and not in fresh dollars, as specified in the Money and Credit Law.

He called on the educational corps, including parents, schools, teachers and students, to “preserve the educational institution as a whole, to overcome this difficult stage.”
