Beirut: The Ministry of Culture - Directorate General of Antiquities has announced the successful recovery of pieces of lead sarcophagi from the Roman period, which had been illegally smuggled out of Tyre. The pieces were received through the Lebanese Consulate in New York, with Consul General Talal Daher representing the consulate in this matter.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, a statement from the Ministry highlighted that the recovery was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Directorate General of Antiquities and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The Directorate General of Antiquities is tasked with the protection of cultural property and played a crucial role in the retrieval of these historical artifacts.

The pieces of the sarcophagi are scheduled to be formally handed over to the Ministry of Culture - Directorate General of Antiquities at a later date, marking a significant step in the preservation of cultural heritage.
