Arida: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has announced the commencement of on-site works at the Arida Bridge crossing. This initiative, undertaken by the ministry's contractor, is part of a strategic project to construct a temporary bridge aimed at revitalizing this crucial border passage to improve traffic flow and stimulate commercial activities.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the ministry's statement detailed that the initial phase of the project involves the removal of existing earth barriers and site preparation. This is being done in preparation for the construction of new reinforced concrete foundations on the old bridge's structure, adhering to approved engineering standards.
The subsequent phase will involve the installation of a specially designed steel bridge. This effort is intended to restore the crossing's strategic role and invigorate economic activity in the region.
Furthermore, the ministry has assured that all construction activities are under the engineering supervision of Khatib and Alami. This oversight aims to ensure compliance with the highest standards of technical, safety, and quality requirements, with the ministry closely monitoring the project to maintain adherence to the established timelines.
