Beirut: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced on Tuesday that it is actively addressing the repercussions of a deadly traffic incident on the main Keserwan highway at the Wata El Joz junction, which resulted in several fatalities. The ministry extended its condolences to the families of the victims.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Minister Fayez Rasamny swiftly responded to the accident by initiating a series of communications and sending Director General of Roads and Buildings Pierre Maalouf to the scene. Maalouf, accompanied by the heads of the municipalities of Faytroun and Wata El Joz, as well as representatives from the Keserwan Municipalities Union, conducted an on-site assessment to evaluate the road's condition, identify hazards, and determine urgent safety measures.

A technical meeting is scheduled for Thursday at the ministry, involving officials from the Directorate General of Roads and Buildings, the municipalities of Faytroun and Wata El Joz, and the Keserwan Municipalities Union. The aim is to review maps and engineering studies to devise a suitable technical solution for enhancing road safety and preventing future incidents.

The ministry emphasized that the situation is being handled as a priority in collaboration with local authorities and relevant agencies. It stated that necessary technical and administrative steps will commence following the field inspection and engineering evaluations to establish a sustainable solution that improves road safety.

The ministry reiterated its condolences to the victims' families and emphasized that safeguarding lives remains its primary concern. It affirmed its commitment to monitoring the case until the necessary remedial actions are implemented.
