Beirut: Minister of Information, Attorney Paul Morcos, on Friday welcomed Sri Lankan Ambassador to Lebanon, Anura Withanage, at his office in the ministry. The meeting centered on the exploration of bilateral relations and the enhancement of media cooperation between Lebanon and Sri Lanka.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Ambassador Withanage noted that the discussions highlighted media collaboration opportunities and proposed a visit for Minister Morcos and other Lebanese ministers to Sri Lanka. This visit aims to foster mutual understanding and cultural exchange between the two nations. Ambassador Withanage also conveyed Minister Morcos's appreciation for the Sri Lankan community in Lebanon, acknowledging its significant role in bolstering the Lebanese economy.

In a separate engagement, Minister Morcos met with a delegation from the National Anti-Corruption Commission, which included Judge Dr. Therese Allawi and Dr. Joe Maalouf, as well as Omar Kabboul from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The delegation extended an invitation to Minister Morcos to attend the "International Day for Universal Access to Information," an event aligned with the Convention on Combating Corruption in the Public Sector, set for September 28.

The meeting also addressed the collaboration between the Ministry of Information and the Artists' Syndicate on the launch of a documentary focusing on the Right to Access Information Law. This initiative aims to highlight the importance of transparency and access to information in combating corruption.
