MP Khalaf from Baabda Palace Stresses No Extension for MPs


Baabda: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Wednesday received MP Melhem Khalaf at Baabda Palace. Upon emerging from the meeting, Khalaf stated, “There is no external request to postpone the parliamentary elections, and MPs do not have the right to extend their mandate, as voting is a right of the Lebanese people.”



According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Khalaf’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about the timing of the upcoming parliamentary elections. His statement underscores a commitment to uphold the electoral process without delay, reflecting the constitutional principles governing Lebanon’s democratic framework. Khalaf emphasized the importance of respecting the electoral timeline, ensuring the Lebanese people’s right to vote is preserved.
