Mufti Qabalan Criticizes Lebanese State for Alleged Abandonment and Foreign Alignment

Beirut: In a pointed message directed at residents of South Lebanon, the Bekaa, and Dahieh, Grand Mufti Ahmad Qabalan delivered harsh criticism of the Lebanese state, accusing it of abandoning its national responsibilities.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, ‘Your state is besieging you and tightening the noose around your necks,’ Qabalan declared, condemning what he described as a government aligned with foreign projects ‘that contradict Lebanon’s sovereignty and national obligations.’

His remarks underscore deepening discontent in marginalized regions, as citizens grapple with economic hardship, insecurity, and a widening disconnect between public institutions and the people they are meant to serve.
