Beirut: Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Wednesday announced the resumption of the general session devoted to debating the government's performance, with MPs raising issues ranging from the general amnesty law and state authority to electricity, education, and administrative decentralization.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, MP Marwan Hamadeh opened the debate by urging the Constitutional Council to swiftly rule on the general amnesty law, citing deaths at Roumieh Prison. He also called on inmates to suspend their hunger strike, noting that the matter was no longer in Parliament's hands.

MP Sajih Attieh criticized the limited ministerial presence at the session, saying the attendance of only five ministers showed "disrespect for people's suffering." While acknowledging that some ministers had delivered results, he criticized others as inactive or absent and described electricity as a fundamental test of the government's performance.

MP Paula Yacoubian highlighted some of Lebanon's greatest setbacks, which stemmed from departing from state authority, bringing other countries' wars onto Lebanese territory, and defying government decisions on establishing exclusive state control over weapons. She questioned the lack of progress toward administrative decentralization and called for the remaining non-occupied areas of South Lebanon to be placed fully under Lebanese state authority. Yacoubian also called for legislation establishing Lebanon's neutrality and addressed shortcomings in the electricity and education sectors.
