Beirut: Prime Minister, Dr. Nawaf Salam, on Friday afternoon received at the Grand Serail, Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, in the presence of Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani. During the meeting, the discussion reportedly touched on the bilateral ties between the two countries, with Premier Salam emphasizing Lebanon's keenness to establish sound relations with Iran, based on mutual respect for national sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Minister Araghchi indicated that "his visit to Lebanon falls within the framework of strengthening and developing bilateral relations, especially in the economic and trade fields." Araghchi also stressed "the risks facing the region, particularly Lebanon, as a result of the aggressive policies pursued by Israel, and the importance of understanding among the various Lebanese parties, especially Hezbollah, in confronting these challenges."

In this context, Premier Salam affirmed that "his government is committed to implementing its ministerial statement- on the basis of which it won confidence twice in the House of Parliament, including the confidence of Hezbollah MPs- which clearly stressed that the decision of war and peace rests solely with the government, and that it must work to confine weapons to its sole authority."
