PM Nawaf Salam Emphasizes Continued UN Presence in South Lebanon

Beirut: Prime Minister, Dr. Nawaf Salam, engaged in discussions at the Grand Serail with key United Nations officials to address the future role of the UN force in southern Lebanon. In attendance were Imran Riza, the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, and Major General Diodato Abagnara, Head and Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting focused on the strategic preparations for the post-UNIFIL phase in the region. Prime Minister Salam underscored the importance of maintaining a UN presence in the south, highlighting the necessity for a force capable of fulfilling three pivotal tasks: monitoring, reporting, and facilitating coordination and communication.
