PRESIDENCY PRESS OFFICE ISSUES DENIAL STATEMENT

Presidency Press Office denies the report of journalist Johnny Mounayar:

“President Aoun only met PM Mikati on the day of parliamentary consultations”.

Presidency Press Office: “Accusing the presidency of interfering to close judicial files is invalid”.

The Presidency Press Office issued the following statement:

“Journalist, Johnny Mounir, said in two TV interviews, that President Michel Aoun met about a month ago with PM Najib Mikati, and discussed with him the possibility of assigning him to form a government, and that PM Mikati set three conditions for acceptance, which consist in addressing his judicial file and naming him by Prime Minister Saad Hariri, and that the government path be under the roof of Prime Minister Hariri.

Mounayar also claimed that President Aoun accepted the first condition and rejected the other two conditions.

The Presidency Press Office denies the story reported by Mounayar, and confirms that no meeting between President Aoun and Prime Minister Mikati took place, except for the meeting on the day of parliamentary consultations in Baabda Palace.

Accordingly, the reporter Mounayar’s story is false, especially accusing the Presidency of the Republic of interfering in the judiciary to close files.”
