Baabda: Baabda Presidential Palace witnessed a flurry of discussions as President Joseph Aoun met with various political figures to address Lebanon’s national affairs and regional developments.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, President Aoun held a meeting with Finance Minister Yassin Jaber to discuss critical issues related to the ministry. Subsequently, he engaged with MP Neemat Frem, focusing on current developments in the region, particularly following Israeli-Iranian confrontations. MP Frem highlighted the necessity of revising Lebanon’s parliamentary election law and emphasized the importance of timely elections and a modern law representing diverse sects and regions. The discussions also covered major domestic issues such as the solid waste crisis, administrative appointments, and the strategic significance of the port of Jounieh.
President Aoun later conferred with MP Ahmed Al-Khair, who underscored the importance of restricting weapons to the Lebanese state. MP Khair expressed his support for President Aoun during this pivotal period, stressing the need to unify support for the state. Additionally, former Minister and MP Nabil De Freij met with President Aoun to discuss local and regional matters, including issues pertinent to the Beqaa region.
Moreover, President Aoun welcomed a delegation from the One Voice Foundation, led by Co-Founder Antoine Kalaydjian, who detailed the international conference scheduled for October 25th. The conference aims to enhance Lebanon’s role as a hub for dialogue among civilizations and cultures, organized in collaboration with Professor Lara Hanna Wakim of the UNEP’s ‘Faith for Earth Initiative.’ President Aoun expressed his hopes for the success of the conference, stressing the need for joint efforts to rejuvenate the nation on various fronts.
