President Aoun Launches Path to Reform at Beirut One Conference

Beirut: In a significant address at the “Beirut 1” conference, President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, emphasized Lebanon’s commitment to genuine reforms. “Our friends from Lebanon and the world, from the private sector, from partner and friendly countries, and from our creative expatriate community, I welcome you all to the Beirut 1 conference, a meeting that we wanted to be more than an economic conference. We wanted it to be the beginning of a new chapter in the renaissance of Lebanon, a chapter whose title is trust, partnership and opportunities,” he stated.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, President Aoun highlighted the steps Lebanon has already undertaken to enact fundamental laws that promote transparency and accountability. He mentioned the country’s serious efforts to rebuild state institutions on solid foundations, prioritizing competence over favoritism and ensuring the rule of law. The activation of monitoring and accountability bodies was also underscored as a crucial element in protecting both investors and citizens.

President Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon’s openness to its Arab and international surroundings, stressing the country’s need to restore its role as an economic and cultural player in the region. He depicted Lebanon as a bridge between East and West, emphasizing its commitment to new partnerships and strengthening its position on the regional and international business map.

Addressing the vision for Lebanon’s growth, President Aoun noted that real growth requires a partnership between the public and private sectors. He outlined the state’s role in enabling and setting the framework for integrity and competition, leaving room for the private sector to drive job creation, innovation, and economic dynamism. President Aoun described Lebanon as an open and ambitious investment platform with strategic geographical advantages, distinguished human resources, and broad opportunities across multiple sectors.

The new national vision, launched by the Minister of Economy, Dr. Amer Bsat, in cooperation with the Economic, Social and Environmental Council and its president, Professor Charles Arbid, was presented as a realistic and implementable plan. This vision is based on clear figures, plans, and timelines, and is in full coordination with the government.
