Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Thursday discussed with the Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Electricité du Liban (EDL), Engineer Kamal Hayek, the institution's situation and ways to increase electricity supply and power generation. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting focused on evaluating the current electricity supply challenges faced by Électricité du Liban. The discussions between President Aoun and Engineer Hayek revolved around formulating strategies to enhance the power generation capabilities of the institution to meet the increasing demand for electricity. During the meeting, various options were considered to address the ongoing electricity shortages. The potential for increasing investment in infrastructure and exploring alternative energy sources were among the solutions discussed. Both parties emphasized the importance of implementing effective measures to improve the reliability and efficiency of the electricity supply ac ross the nation. The dialogue also included an assessment of the financial and operational status of EDL, identifying key areas that require immediate attention to ensure the stability of the electricity sector in Lebanon. The discussions are expected to pave the way for future initiatives aimed at resolving the electricity crisis and ensuring a sustainable energy future for the country.
