Baabda: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday afternoon received Father Elie Rahme, the Superior General of the Capuchin Order in Lebanon and the Near East, along with a delegation at the Baabda palace.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the delegation extended an invitation to President Aoun to attend a celebration marking the grand jubilee of 400 years of the Capuchin Order's presence and mission in Lebanon and the Near East. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 24, at St. Louis Cathedral in downtown Beirut.
President Aoun expressed his appreciation for the Order's dedication to its humanitarian and faith-based mission in the region, with a focus on Lebanon. He acknowledged the Order's significant contributions in social, educational, cultural, and pastoral fields and its efforts to foster coexistence within society.
Furthermore, President Aoun emphasized the importance of preserving the legacy that the Order has established across various fields and highlighted the necessity of passing it on to future generations. He called for reinforcing the Order's role in promoting the values of solidarity, love, and dialogue among citizens.
