Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, engaged in diplomatic efforts on Tuesday as tensions escalated in the south due to Israeli attacks and incursions into several border villages. He contacted French President Emmanuel Macron, briefing him on the latest military developments and requesting France's intervention to halt the Israeli military expansion.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the French President reaffirmed France's "steadfast support for Lebanon and its backing in various international forums." He praised the recent decisions issued by the Council of Ministers, considering them instrumental in strengthening Lebanon's sovereignty and affirming its right to the exclusive possession of arms.

In a continued effort to garner international support, President Aoun also reached out to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. He briefed the Prime Minister on the situation and requested Greece's assistance, and through him, that of the European Union, to address the attacks and incursions affecting southern villages and towns in Lebanon.

Prime Minister Mitsotakis assured President Aoun that he would make the necessary contacts to reaffirm Greece's support for Lebanon during these difficult times.

Additionally, President Aoun met with Papal Ambassador to Lebanon, Monsignor Paolo Borgia, at Baabda Palace. He updated Monsignor Borgia on the developments in south Lebanon and requested the Holy See's intervention to stop the ongoing Israeli attacks and incursions.
