Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, held discussions with U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa, emphasizing the need to consolidate the ceasefire in southern Lebanon. He urged for pressure on Israel to halt military operations and adhere to the framework agreement that was negotiated through Lebanese-American-Israeli talks in Washington. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting also covered President Aoun's upcoming official visit to the United States, at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump. This visit is considered significant amidst the current situation in Lebanon and the broader region. President Aoun highlighted the urgency of stopping the shelling, demolitions, and bulldozing operations by Israeli forces in towns and villages under occupation. Ambassador Issa noted the importance of President Aoun's visit to Washington, citing President Trump's strong interest in Lebanon and his commitment to achieving security and stability in the country, as well as a lleviating the suffering of its people.
