Beirut: The Consumer Protection Directorate at the Ministry of Economy, backed by State Security, on Wednesday carried out extensive inspections across Mount Lebanon, covering Sin El Fil, Mazraa, Fanar, Bchamoun, and Ras El Matn, targeting food companies, retail shops, and private generator operators.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, price monitoring revealed general stability among importers and distributors, with only minor increases, ranging between 2.1% and 5%, in limited items, justified by invoices. However, a major violation was recorded in Fanar, where unjustified price hikes between 20% and 50% were detected, prompting an official violation report under pricing regulations.

In Ras El Matn, businesses were found compliant with pricing transparency and profit margins. Meanwhile, in Bchamoun, four violations were issued against generator operators for breaching official tariffs and failing to install meters.

A total of five violations were recorded, as authorities reaffirmed ongoing crackdowns to protect consumers and maintain market stability.
