Prime Minister Salam Addresses Srar Landfill Concerns

Beirut:Prime Minister Nawaf Salam chaired a meeting at the Grand Serail concerning the demands of municipalities around the Srar landfill. The meeting was also attended by Environment Minister Tamara El Zein and other relevant officials.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, MP Asaad Dergham stated that Prime Minister Salam had addressed all "legitimate demands" of the municipalities impacted by the landfill. Salam tasked the Higher Relief Commission, along with the Interior and Environment ministries and the Council for Development and Reconstruction, to start implementing these demands immediately.

Furthermore, it was agreed by the participants that the Srar landfill should only accept waste from the Akkar region, rejecting the transfer of waste from outside the governorate.
