Prime Minister Salam’s Office Denies Remarks from Meeting with US Official

Washington:Beirut Prime Minister Nawaf Salam's media office has denied claims made by Lebanese media that attributed remarks to Salam and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during their meeting in Washington. The office stated that these remarks were "entirely fabricated" and were not part of the discussions.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, the media office urged outlets to rely on official sources. It was emphasized that Salam advocated for the activation of the trilateral framework and the translation of principles of reciprocity and phased implementation into concrete steps during the meeting.

Salam's office highlighted that he pushed for a clear timetable for the complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, the restoration of Lebanon's sovereignty, exclusive state control over arms across the nation, and a credible verification mechanism as outlined in the framework.

The statement also mentioned that the US State Department's official account noted Rubio's reaffirmation of Washington's strong commitment to supporting Lebanon in implementing the framework, while praising the Salam government's efforts to extend state authority.

The media office underscored that any positions attributed to either official beyond the formally issued statements did not accurately reflect the content of the meeting.
