Beirut: The Progressive Socialist Party strongly condemned the attack targeting members of the French unit within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, which resulted in the death of one soldier and the injury of three others.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, in a statement, the party expressed its absolute rejection of any assault on United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, stressing the force's essential and pivotal role in preserving security and stability in southern Lebanon. It emphasized the need to safeguard peacekeepers, provide them with the necessary protection, and enable them to fully carry out their duties in line with relevant international resolutions.

The party also called for a transparent, swift, and thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances of the attack, identify those responsible, and hold them accountable under the law, in order to prevent similar incidents from recurring.

It further extended its deepest condolences to Emmanuel Macron, the French government, and the family of the fallen soldier, while wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded.
