Raggi and Araghchi Discuss Regional Developments and Bilateral Cooperation

Beirut: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Youssef Raggi, held discussions with his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Abbas Araghchi, in Beirut, focusing on regional and international developments, including the ongoing negotiations surrounding Iran’s nuclear file. The meeting also covered bilateral relations and strategies for enhancing cooperation based on mutual respect and respect for national sovereignty.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the Foreign Ministry described the discussion as ‘frank and direct.’ Minister Raggi highlighted Lebanon’s reliance on Iran’s commitment to Lebanon’s security, stability, and civil peace, which is crucial in overcoming pressing challenges. He emphasized Lebanon’s diplomatic efforts to address Israeli-occupied territories, halt Israeli violations, and reassert full state authority, including exclusive control of arms by the state.

Raggi also stressed the importance of ensuring that any external support to Lebanon is directed exclusively through official government and public institutions to facilitate recovery and reconstruction. Minister Araghchi, on his part, stated that his visit aims to initiate a new phase in Iran-Lebanon relations, reflecting the evolving political dynamics in Lebanon and the region.
