Beirut: Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi received Jean Arnault, the Acting Head of the Office of the U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon, on a courtesy visit marking the start of his new assignment. Raggi wished Arnault success in his new role and reaffirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' full readiness to cooperate with the United Nations. He also underscored the importance of multilateral diplomacy and the international community's continued engagement in Lebanon.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Arnault said Lebanon had endured significant hardship and continued to face major challenges, stressing that the country required meaningful and unconditional international support. He noted that mobilizing such support would be a central focus of his mission in the period ahead.
The meeting also addressed developments in Lebanon and the wider region, with Arnault sharing his assessment of the prospects for a political solution based on discussions he held during a recent tour of several countries in the region.
