Saddi Reviews Jbeil Wastewater Project, Sets Roadmap for Treatment Plant Activation

Byblos: Energy and Water Minister, Joe Saddi, on Friday visited Byblos Municipality and chaired a working meeting with MPs Ziad Hawat and Simon Abi Ramia, local officials and sector stakeholders to review the status of the coastal Jbeil wastewater project.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, discussions focused on activating the wastewater treatment plant, expanding network connections, and overcoming technical, financial, and administrative obstacles. It was agreed that Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Establishment will take over the treatment plant from the Council for Development and Reconstruction in the coming weeks following trial operations.

Plans also include constructing a main sewage line within Byblos, implementing a pumping station in Fidar, and securing funding to connect additional coastal municipalities to the network. The minister later inspected the treatment plant and reviewed its operational readiness.
