Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Monday affirmed via his official account on X platform that the municipal elections in North Lebanon were successfully conducted under the responsible oversight of the Ministry of Interior. Salam reiterated that electoral bribery, regardless of its source, will be met with strict legal measures.

No one is above accountability,’ emphasizing the government’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.

Salam strongly condemned the use of firearms and celebratory gunfire that resulted in serious injuries, calling it ‘morally and legally unacceptable, and a disgraceful, backward practice that must stop.’ The PM highlighted the dangers associated with such activities and reaffirmed his stance against them.

The Prime Minister confirmed that the relevant security agencies, particularly the Lebanese Army, have arrested several individuals involved in gunfire.
