Salam: Israel's greatest advantage came from those who unilaterally dragged Lebanon into futile 'support' wars: Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam posted on the "X" platform: "Today, we hear from those who accuse the political authority of having 'aided Israel rather than upholding Lebanon's sovereignty,' only to then call for dialogue and unity, as if the Lebanese people have no memory...The reality is that the greatest aid to Israel was provided by the very party that unilaterally dragged Lebanon into futile 'support-front' war adventures, handing Israel the pretexts to attack our country, trample its sovereignty, destroy its cities and villages, and kill or displace hundreds of thousands of its people."

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Salam added, "Those who monopolized the decision to go to war, and who continue to hijack the State's decision-making power, linking Lebanon to external agendas and axes while disregarding the interests of their own constituency and the Lebanese people at large, are in no position to pass judgment on anyone's patriotism, let alone their commitment to sovereignty."

Salam, thus, underlined that "Lebanon can possess no true sovereignty without a single, independent decision-making authority within a state that commands a unified army," and one that "exercises its power over the entire national territory exclusively through its own forces."

He continued: "As for dialogue and unity, they can only be built through the courage to acknowledge facts, however bitter, and through accepting responsibility for the reckless choices for which the Lebanese people continue to pay a heavy price."

PM Salam pledged that "the State remains a haven for all Lebanese, especially for our people who have endured one loss after another. It remains committed to removing the Israeli occupation from every inch of our land and securing the return of all our prisoners."

He went on, "The State is also committed to ensuring the conditions for a dignified and safe return for our people to their cities, villages, fields, and homes, and to rebuilding them in a manner that helps heal the wounds of all families who have suffered the loss of loved ones and livelihoods."

Salam concluded by stressing that abandoning the rhetoric of accusing others of treason, and sincerely calling for dialogue and national solidarity, remain the most effective path to strengthening Lebanon's ability to confront all its immense challenges.
