Tripoli: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Monday visited the site of the building collapse in Tripoli’s Qobbeh area, stressing that “Tripoli is not alone,” and saying he chose to conduct an on-site inspection ahead of a scheduled meeting at the Grand Serail to develop a comprehensive solution to the problem of structurally unsound buildings.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, during the visit, Salam met rescue teams continuing rubble-clearing operations under extremely difficult conditions and commended their efforts, expressing hope that they would succeed in locating the last missing person and that she would be found alive. He was briefed by Tripoli Civil Defense official Wassef Karimeh on ongoing procedures and the latest developments in the search-and-rescue operation, and made a call from the site to Civil Defense Director General Brig. Gen. Imad Khreish.

Salam later visited Al-Nini Hospital in Tripoli, where he checked on the health of Amal Al-Sayyed, the sole survivor of the collapse, offering condolences and wishing her a speedy recovery and strength for her family.

He affirmed that rescue teams would continue their work until the fate of her missing daughter is determined, noting that the Higher Relief Council is standing by the survivor and her family during the ordeal.
