Salam Meets Civil Society Delegation, Stresses State Authority and Unity

Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Monday received a delegation from the Guidance and Reform Association at the Grand Serail, where discussions focused on state authority, national unity, and urgent humanitarian needs amid ongoing Israeli attacks.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, association head Ibrahim Takoush, speaking after the meeting, said the delegation reaffirmed commitment to a just state and the principles of the Taif Agreement, and outlined the pressing needs facing Lebanese citizens due to continued Israeli aggression. He highlighted the role of civil society groups in providing services across the country and stressed cooperation with state institutions to serve the public interest.

Takoush said both sides underscored the need for solidarity in the face of Israeli attacks, support for government decisions, and the extension of state authority over all Lebanese territory. He called for a full Israeli withdrawal and for Lebanese security forces to assume sole responsibility for maintaining security nationwide. He also stressed the importance of strengthening the judiciary, addressing displacement by securing public shelters without disrupting private schools, preserving civil peace, and maintaining strong ties with Arab countries.

Salam also met Civil Defence Director General Brigadier General Imad Khreiss, discussing the agency's conditions. He praised its role during the crisis and renewed condolences for personnel killed in the line of duty last week.
