Beirut: Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Wednesday hosted Members of Parliament Ibrahim Mneimneh, Najat Aoun, Firas Hamdan, Yassin Yassin, and Paula Yacoubian at the Grand Serail.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, MP Ibrahim Mneimneh stated that the delegation reaffirmed its full support for the government's recent initiatives aimed at safeguarding Lebanon. The measures emphasize prohibiting any military or security activities by Hezbollah and reinforce the principle of exclusive state control over arms. Mneimneh highlighted the government's responsibility in protecting citizens and underscored the necessity of restoring state authority over decisions concerning war and peace. He also clarified that the meeting did not cover the topic of parliamentary elections.
Additionally, Prime Minister Salam met with a delegation from the Democratic Gathering bloc, led by MP Taymour Jumblatt. The delegation included MPs Marwan Hamadeh, Akram Chehayeb, Faisal Sayegh, Wael Abou Faour, Bilal Abdallah, and Hadi Abou Al-Hassan, along with Raji Saadeh, Secretary-General of the Progressive Socialist Party Zafar Nasser, and Hossam Harb, adviser to Taymour Jumblatt. Jumblatt expressed that the bloc's visit aimed to convey their support for the government's decisions designed to protect Lebanon.
