Salam: Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Monday declared that justice in the Beirut port explosion case would not be compromised, emphasizing that no official, regardless of their standing, would escape accountability.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salam's remarks came as he commemorated the sixth anniversary of the catastrophic August 4 explosion in a post on X. He acknowledged the profound national grief and the suffering endured by the families of victims and survivors. Salam asserted that while justice might face delays, only the truth could begin to mend the nation's deep wounds.

Salam stated unequivocally, "No one should doubt that there is no cover for any official, whatever their position, whether in the Beirut port explosion case or any other case," underscoring that accountability would be all-encompassing. He urged the Lebanese people to remember August 5, the day following the tragedy, as a testament to the resilience and unity of Beirut's residents and young people from across the nation who cleared debris, supported each other, and rekindled hope.

He further proposed that August 4 remain a day dedicated to truth, justice, and accountability, while August 5 should symbolize Beirut's recovery, solidarity, and national unity.
