Salam Reviews Plan to Restore Telecommunications Services Across South Lebanon

Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Monday chaired a coordination meeting with Telecommunications Minister Charles Hajj, executives from Alfa, Touch and Ogero, as well as senior ministry officials, to review a plan aimed at restoring telecommunications services across southern Lebanon.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the plan includes rapid maintenance works in accessible areas, refueling telecommunications sites, repairing power sources and transmission lines, activating national roaming between networks, and deploying mobile base stations, with priority given to the safety of field teams.

Salam praised the efforts of telecommunications personnel, stressing that restoring communications is essential to supporting residents' return, reconstruction efforts and state institutions. Hajj said the current phase marks the beginning of recovery, to be followed by rebuilding a more resilient network based on fiber-optic (FTTH) infrastructure and 5G technology. Officials agreed to maintain daily coordination and provide regular progress updates to accelerate the restoration of services.
