Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Wednesday said discussion of any potential meeting with Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, remains premature, stressing that any high-level talks with Israel would require extensive preparation. Speaking to reporters, Salam emphasized that Lebanon was not seeking normalization with Israel but rather peace, noting that direct negotiations between the two sides were not unprecedented.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salam stated that consolidating the ceasefire would be the foundation for any future round of negotiations that could take place in Washington. He highlighted that the conditions were not yet ripe for high-level meetings, underscoring the necessity of thorough groundwork before any such engagements.

Salam also articulated Lebanon's minimum demand for a timetable for Israeli withdrawal, emphasizing the government's commitment to further develop its plan to place all weapons under state authority. The Prime Minister's remarks underscore Lebanon's emphasis on peace and strategic preparation in its diplomatic approach to relations with Israel.
