Beirut: Minister of Culture Dr. Ghassan Salameh recently held a meeting with MP Dr. Bilal Abdullah at the National Library-Sanayeh. The meeting was attended by the mayor of Shehim, Engineer Tarek Shaaban, and architect Jad Tabet.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, MP Abdullah expressed his appreciation for Minister Salameh’s profound understanding of the current situation in Lebanon and the wider region. He emphasized the importance of Salameh’s experience and political insight in navigating Lebanon through a critical transitional phase. The discussion highlighted the necessity of maintaining internal unity and neutrality to protect Lebanon’s interests and shield it from external conflicts.
MP Abdullah further elaborated on their discourse with Minister Salameh, focusing on the cultural heritage of Shehim, particularly the Roman Palace of Shehim. He revealed that Minister Salameh possesses a comprehensive dossier on these antiquities. The conversation centered on the potential for listing Shehim Palace on the World Heritage List and efforts to protect and promote it as a significant cultural and tourist site. Abdullah noted that the municipality of Shehim has developed an extensive plan to preserve these antiquities, with hopes of launching the project under the patronage of the Minister of Culture once completed.
