Beirut: Minister of Social Affairs Haneen Sayed met at the Ministry with U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa, to discuss current political and social developments, with a particular focus on the situation in the South. The meeting addressed recovery and reconstruction efforts, the importance of strengthening the role of the state, improving border control, and supporting the implementation of the next phase of the Lebanese Army's plan to ensure stability and security.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the discussion also highlighted the role of social policies in supporting stability. Minister Sayed presented the Ministry's new strategy, which focuses on moving beyond emergency response toward building sustainable social protection systems. This includes strengthening economic inclusion and expanding social assistance programs, particularly the AMAN social safety net, to support affected communities and reduce vulnerability.
The meeting concluded with an exchange on current and future areas of cooperation between the Ministry of Social Affairs and the United States, in support of social stability, stronger governance, and a coordinated, state-led response to the needs of the most vulnerable.
