Tunis: Tunisia's National Guard announced Sunday the recovery of eleven bodies from the sea after a boat carrying illegal migrants sank off the country's southeastern coast, while three people remain missing.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, the boat, which sank Friday night about 14 nautical miles off the coast of Zarzis in southern Tunisia, was carrying 15 migrants; only one was rescued. A statement from the Tunisian National Guard said, "The operations resulted in the recovery of three bodies yesterday and eight bodies today, bringing the total to eleven."

Efforts are ongoing as authorities continue the search for the three missing individuals. The incident underscores the perilous nature of migrant crossings in the region, with many embarking on dangerous journeys in search of better opportunities.
