NNA – Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdel Latif Derian, on Wednesday said in the wake of his meeting with KSA Ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, that his visit to the Saudi diplomat aimed at expressing solidarity with Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Cooperation Council GCC countries — “those brotherly countries that have never abandoned Lebanon.”
“We await decisive measures that can rectify the maltreatment committed against Saudi Arabia and GCC countries. Lebanese officials must take swift measures to heal this rift,” Derian said, reiterating unrelenting loyalty to the KSA. He dismissed Lebanese Foreign Minister, Charbel Wehbe’s recent stance against the KSA as utterly “condemnable and reprehensible”. He also described it as “a sin,” and called for serious and firm measures against Wehbe.
