(UPDATED) LEBANESE MINISTERIAL DELEGATION DISCUSSES ISSUE OF IMPORTING EGYPTIAN GAS THROUGH SYRIA

A Lebanese ministerial delegation arrived Saturday afternoon at the headquarters of the Syrian Foreign Ministry, where talks began between the two delegations on the issue of importing Egyptian gas through Syria-

From the Lebanese side attending were: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Zeina Akar, Minister of Finance Ghazi Wazni, Minister of Energy Raymond Ghajar, Director General of Public Security Major General Abbas Ibrahim, and Lebanese Ambassador to Syria Saad Zakhia.

From the Syrian side attending were: Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad, Oil and Mineral Resources Minister Bassam Tohme, Finance Minister Kenan Yaghi, Syrian Ambassador and Secretary General of the Lebanese-Syrian Supreme Council Nasri Khoury.

After the meeting, the two sides stressed the difficult conditions that the two countries are going through, especially in the fields of electricity and gas.

In this context, the Lebanese side demanded the possibility of assisting Syria in passing Egyptian gas and Jordanian electricity through Syrian territory.

In turn, the Syrian side welcomed the request, stressing Syria’s readiness to confront it.

The two sides agreed to follow up the technical aspects through a joint team.
