Beirut: Iran's Foreign Ministry on Sunday strongly condemned a renewed US aggression targeting several monitoring and surveillance facilities along the country's southern coast, saying the attacks constituted a fresh violation of the memorandum of understanding on ending the war.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the ministry said the strikes, carried out in the early hours of Sunday, also breached Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, arguing they demonstrated that Washington placed "no value or credibility whatsoever" on its commitments and that "breach of covenant is part of the nature of this regime."

The ministry reaffirmed Iran's determination to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing that it would exercise its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. It also reminded the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General of what it described as their responsibility to safeguard international peace and security in the face of the ongoing US military aggression.
