Beirut: The US State Department announced in a statement that Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Sunday with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, with talks touching on the implementation of the tripartite framework agreement. It also announced that Rubio reiterated Washington's support for the successful implementation of the framework agreement.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, the US State Department praised the Lebanese government's efforts "to restore Lebanon's sovereignty, disarm Hezbollah, and dismantle its infrastructure," considering this a "step forward toward peace."
