Wheat Export Delays Cause Concerns for Lebanese Farmers

Masnaa:More than 40 trucks carrying over 1,200 tons of wheat have been held at the Masnaa customs yard since Monday, despite possessing Economy Ministry permits for export to Jordan.

According to National news agency - Lebanon, National Union of Lebanese Farmers President Ibrahim Al-Tarchichi highlighted that the delays in obtaining final clearance have disrupted exports and caused congestion at the crossing.

Al-Tarchichi expressed concerns that farmers are struggling to sell their accumulated wheat stocks ahead of the new planting season. He noted that mills are either refusing to make purchases or offering prices approximately 20% below international levels. He urged authorities to take action and facilitate the export process.
