Baghdad: Iraqi protesters have angrily confronted government security forces as demonstrations erupted near capital Baghdad’s Green Zone.

According to National News Agency – Lebanon, a video clip posted on X and verified by the agency showed the protesters attempting to mobilize to storm the US embassy amid anger following the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The protesters were seen waving flags and shouting slogans as they mourned the death of Khamenei.

A similar video also verified by Sanad showed several protesters attempting to block road vehicles at a roundabout near a gate leading to the Green Zone.
