Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of journalist Amal Khalil, who was killed in an Israeli strike on the town of Tayri, which also injured journalist Zeinab Faraj.

According to National Nws Aency - Lebanon, Aoun said the deliberate targeting of journalists by Israel aims to obscure its violations against Lebanon, describing such acts as crimes against humanity punishable under international laws and norms, and warranting international intervention.

The President extended condolences to Khalil's family, the staff of Al-Akhbar newspaper, and the Lebanese and Arab media community, praying for her soul and wishing a speedy recovery to Faraj.
