Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on Monday expressed Lebanon's appreciation, on behalf of the state and its people, for the support provided by Egypt under the guidance of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This statement was made during a meeting at Baabda Palace with Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Engineer Karim Badawi. President Aoun described the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Lebanon and Egypt to meet Lebanon's natural gas needs for electricity generation as a practical and essential step that will help increase power production and ease rationing.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun thanked Minister Badawi for Egypt's continued responsiveness to Lebanon's needs and conveyed his greetings and best wishes to President El-Sisi for peace and progress in the coming year.
Minister Badawi affirmed Egypt's commitment to supporting Lebanon's energy sector, outlining cooperation in gas exploration, production, transport, and distribution, as well as the formation of joint working groups between the two ministries to coordinate efforts and provide necessary infrastructure.
